Real Alchemy
Spagyric elixirs are of a nature that is both bodily (fixed) and subtle (volatile) containing a complete spectrum of volatile essential oils (volatile sulfur), the heavy nutritional/active compounds of the plant (fixed sulfur) and fixed mineral salts in a perfect harmonious balance dictated by the plant itself. As such, they are primarily medicines of the emotional/body-soul acting harmoniously on the physical, emotional and mental/spiritual bodies. This intermediate process of diffusion from a point of balance to fixed and volatile aspects acts on the emotions which affect all aspects of healing for acute or chronic conditions. Spagyric elixirs, by their nature, are highly bioavailable.
σπάω ἀγείρω
"Spáō" (σπάω): Meaning "to draw out" or "to extract."
"Ageírō" (ἀγείρω): Meaning "to gather" or "to collect."
The word was coined by Paracelsus, a 16th-century Swiss physician, alchemist, and philosopher, who combined these roots to describe the process of alchemy, particularly in the preparation of medicinal remedies.
In the spagyric tradition, the process involves three key stages:
Separation: Extracting the essence or core properties of a material.
Purification: Refining and purifying the extracted elements.
Recombination: Reuniting the purified elements into a more potent, balanced whole.
This etymology reflects the alchemical philosophy of breaking down natural substances into their basic components, purifying these components, and then reassembling them to create something superior, often with medicinal or spiritual applications.
Operative Alchemy
In new age circles we hear a lot about spiritual alchemy but in essence there is two kinds of alchemy, the other kind is the interplay of matter and consciousness. Physical alchemy is the play with matter in a laboratory. It is the mesure of where you are in a spiritual journey. To create tinctures/essences/metals/stones. This is an artistic love affair to sublimate matter and making it available for the body which is the mind.
